The Thames Sea Forts are the last in a long history of British Marine Defences. The Army Anti Aircraft forts have played a significant role in post World War 2 developments. Notably in offshore fuel exploration and drilling platforms.
At the end of 2014 I was asked by Project Redsand Trust to try to help do something to make use of the Forts, instead of letting them slowly deteriorate and no doubt eventually fall under the sea. The Redsand Towers and the Maunsell Forts of the Thames Estuary. In 1949 the classified plans for the Maunsell Forts were supplied to American offshore oil and gas exploration groups in the Gul.
